Paris, Oct. 16 - Carrefour's Chief Executive Eric Reiss said Tuesday the French retail giant expects to implement price increases in the coming months in France to offset the impact of rises from suppliers.
Reiss also said the company is in favor of liberalizing the regulations governing France's retail market.
"We want greater capacity to negotiate with suppliers," Reiss said on a conference call with analysts and journalists.
Even if regulations governing relations between suppliers and distributors are pulled back, Reiss said he expects prices to increase in the country.
The chief executive also said he doesn't expect the company's margins to deteriorate in the third quarter compared with the second half. "There is no speculation on our margins today," he said.
