18 October 2007 - United Spirits Ltd, the third largest spirits producer in the world and a division of the United Breweries (UB) Group, has announced its plans to build a facility in Asansol, West Bengal, say local press reports.
The new plant will produce grain-based spirits and have a production capacity of 30 kiloliters a day. It will cost the group around USD 8.84 million, United Spirits estimates.
Additional plants are planned in other parts of India, add the reports. The company already owns three plants in the east of India and 72 other manufacturing facilities spread across the country.
