26 October 2005 - New family of products further expands Cargill's portfolio of sweetness solutions
CHICAGO — Cargill today introduced its new SweetDesign(TM) family of sweetener systems, designed to help food and beverage manufacturers deliver great tasting frozen dairy desserts and sweetened bakery products such as cakes, muffins and brownies, with little or no sugar. The SweetDesign(TM) family of sweetener systems will be available initially in North America. Details regarding international availability will be announced in the future.
Cargill is showcasing SweetDesignTM Dairy Systems – the first product in the family of sweetener systems to be commercialized -- in frozen dairy dessert prototypes in its booth (#S6408) at this year’s Worldwide Food Expo, McCormick Place, Chicago (Oct. 26-29).
“SweetDesign™ systems can be easily customized to help food manufacturers satisfy consumer demand for convenient, calorie reduced frozen desserts,” said Paul Vajda, marketing manager, Cargill Food Systems. “Featuring taste and texture profiles that are similar to standard full-fat/full-sugar products, frozen dairy desserts made with SweetDesignTM deliver great taste, sweetness and texture.
Frozen dairy desserts featuring SweetDesignTM brand of sweetener systems offer the benefits of: calorie reduction, no sugar added, reduced sugar, and/or reduced glycemic index, depending on the application and formulation.
SweetDesignTM incorporates a number of sweetening, stabilizing and texturizing ingredients – including erythritol, Cargill’s all-natural/no-cal bulk sweetener -- to provide sweetness, creaminess, body and stability to ice crystal growth in a variety of frozen dairy desserts.
