Lion Nathan Buys US Wine Importer Cumulus

2 June 2008 - Australian wine group Lion Nathan Ltd has acquired US wine importer Cumulus Wine Inc for an undisclosed amount, the company has said in a statement.

Following the acquisition, Lion Nathan will establish a new wine import company, Lion Nathan USA Inc., in a bid to create a platform from which to sell premium Australian and New Zealand wines in the world’s largest wine market. The new company will also distribute some brands from Cumulus’s existing portfolio.

Constellation Brands, Lion Nathan’s current US distributor, has already agreed to move the Lion Nathan Australia and New Zealand wine portfolio to Lion Nathan USA by the end of this month, the company said.
