2 June 2008 – A dairy plant which was shut down last December because it was running at a loss has been formally re-opened, local media report.
The Matanuska Creamery, in Wasilla, is Alaska’s only other dairy beside Northern Lights Dairy. It used to be known as Matanuska Maid until December, when the state-owned plant was shut down.
The new operation has been collecting milk and processing some of it into cheese since mid-March, add the reports.
