Brussels, July 4 - The European Commission said on Friday it had referred the proposed acquisition Czech retailer Plus Discount by German retailer REWE to the Czech competition authority.
"The Czech Competition Authority requested the Commission to refer the notified transaction to it because it considers that the transaction would affect competition in a number of local retail markets within the Czech Republic," the EU executive said in a statement.
Plus Discount, also known as Plus CZ, sells food and non-food items. REWE also handles travel and tourism.
