Bangkok, July 11 - Thailand could export more than 10 million tonnes of rice this year, up from a previous forecast of 9.5 million tonnes, due to strong overseas demand, exporters said on Friday.
"We definitely could export more than 10 million tonnes this year," Chookiat Ophaswongse, President of the Thai Rice Exporters Association, told Reuters.
Thailand, the world's biggest rice exporter, shipped 9.5 million tonnes in 2007 and had expected to export a similar amount this year.
It shipped a record 10.13 million tonnes of rice in 2004.
