17 July 2008 - Swiss food ingredient manufacturer Jungbunzlauer has launched a 12-month investment programme to increase production capacity and efficiency at its existing facilities in Europe. The firm said that the programme will require a capital expenditure of approximately 50 million Euro.
Further to an increase in demand for Jungbunzlauer's citric acid, the company will install new equipment at its Austrian plant, which will enable more efficient fermentation, separation and purification.
Jungbunzlauer's xanthan gum plant will also be expanded as robust growth for the ingredient is expected in all its application markets.
In Ladenburg, Germany, the capacity for calcium citrate will be doubled to supply the growing demand in the mineral fortification and supplement market, added the Swiss firm.
Meanwhile, the plant will also focus on the development and production of mineral salts deriving from the Group’s range of organic acids.
Finally, in Marckolsheim, France, the manufacturing capacity for glucono-delta-lactone, a mild acidifier, sequestrant and leavening agent used in a wide range of applications, will also be increased.
Jungbunzlauer specialises in citric acid, xanthan gum, gluconates, specialties, special salts and sweeteners for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry as well as for various other industrial applications.
