17 July 2008 – Local media report that Prodimex, Russia's largest sugar producer, is to invest $170 million to enter the dairy sector via its subsidiary, Centralno-Chernozemnaya Agropromishlennaya Kompaniya.
Plans involve the construction of eight dairy farms with 1,200 head of cattle each in Russia’s Voronezh region.
Prodimex plans to build two farms a year until 2011, and a farm a year after that date until 2014.
The farms are expected to reach a combined production of 60,000 tonnes of milk a year.
