26 Aug - North Korean scientists have reportedly developed a special kind of noodle that postpones pangs of hunger, according to a Japanese source.
The new noodles are made from a combination of soybeans and corn and are said to have twice as much protein and five times as much fat as ordinary noodles.
Media reports said the noodles left people feeling fuller for longer periods of time. The noodles would soon be sold across the country, said one source.
North Korea relies on food aid and in July the UN said its citizens were suffering the most acute food shortages in a decade, with some six million households said to be in need of more to eat.
