28 August - Scottish coffeeshop chain Beanscene, which went into liquidation last month, looks to have been saved after the administrator revealed it had received dozens of bids to buy the troubled company, UK sources have claimed.

KPMG said today some 30 formal offers had been received and that these had been short-listed to a final six – believed to include company founder Gordon Richardson. Richardson sold the coffee shop company earlier this year after a dispute with investors.

The administrators said it would meet this week to select one of them for preferred bidder status.

A KPMG spokesman said: “We are trying to work out who will offer the best package for the creditors."

As FLEXNEWS reported in July, Beanscene was put into liquidation after the company was unable to finance expansion plans it had committed to following the withdrawal of funds.
