In a statement sent to FLEXNEWS, the company said that the total investment amounts to SEK 189 million (about 20 million euro). The funds will be used to improve efficiency and productivity at Polarbröd’s bakeries in Älvsbyn and Omne, said the company.

Established 36 years ago, Polarbröd has grown from a small family bakery to Sweden’s third largest producer of bread.

In 2007, 36,110 tons of bread products were baked at the three bakeries in Älvsbyn, Bredbyn and Omne and the company’s bread market share in Sweden amounted to 14%. The company, which has approximately 400 employees, recorded a turnover of SEK 676 million (71.5 million euro) in 2007.

The company’s export market accounts for 13% of its production and its largest markets are Norway and France.
