15 September - Coors Brewers has been forced to recall over half a million bottles of Grolsch premium lager from UK supermarket chain Morrisons over safety concerns.

Daily News Alerts

The company issued the alert for some 526,000 units after three complaints that shards of glass had been found in some bottles. The company took out advertisements in four national newspapers and put up signs in supermarkets across Britain in a bid to make the public aware of the situation.

The  recall involves a batch of the lager manufactured on 18 July, 2008. The company said the drinks are only now being delivered to retail outlets and it is hoped a large proportion of these will be recalled from stores.

The product details for the affected batch are:

* Grolsch Premium Lager, Bottled
* 20 x 300ml bottles in cardboard case
* Best before: 31 March 2009
* Batch code: L8200 and L8199

Coors Brewers said the best before date and batch information are found both on the external cardboard packaging and also on the shoulder of the bottle. No other Grolsch products or packages are included in the recall, said the company and advised that any affected products should be returned to Morrisons.
