France: Wine Company Boisset to Sell Spirits Business to La Martiniquaise

1 October 2008 - Nuits-Saint-Georges-based wine group Boisset plans to sell its spirits branch to spirits producer La Martiniquaise for an undisclosed sum.

Boisset, however, said that the deal is subject to competition authority approval.

The wine company added that thanks to the sale it will focus on its wine business, which is enjoying growth in France and abroad.

La Martiniquaise, which produces 24% of spirits drinks sold in France, sells key brands such as Label 5 and Glen Turner whiskies, Poliakov vodka and Porto Cruz.

The firm will acquire, amongst others, Boisset's Rhum du Verso and Idôl vodka brands.
