China Says Latest Testing on 75 Liquid Milk Brands Showed No Melamine Traces

7 October 2008 - China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) communicated today the results of its latest sampings on liquid milk in the domestic market.

AQSIQ tested leading liquid milk brands including 75 brands of sour milk, pasteurised milk and sterilized milk. 609 batches were sampled from the markets of 27 cities in 19 provinces including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shanxi, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Shaanxi.

The test results showed no melamine in any of the 609 batches, the inspection body said.

So far AQSIQ has sampled 2,093 batches of liquid milk including 115 brands in national markets, and no melamine has been found.
