Toronto, Oct. 22 - Nearly 800 workers at Loblaw Cos Ltd's 13 Maxi stores in eastern Quebec went on strike Wednesday over wages and benefits, the union said.
Seven of the stores affected by the strike were in the greater Quebec City area, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 503 said on its website.
A Loblaw official was not available for comment.
Loblaw, the biggest supermarket chain in Canada, narrowly averted a strike at its stores in Saskatchewan earlier this month.
