The brewer said that the redundancies are part of a consolidation of activities following the 176 million euro takeover of Swiss drinks group Eichhof Getranke this summer.

Heineken also said it would centralise its Swiss activities in Lucerne as of June next year.

According to the Swiss Competition Commission (Comco), the acquisition of Eichhof has given Heineken an estimated 23% share of the Swiss beer market, consolidating the group’s number two position in Switzerland.

In 2007, the Swiss beer market totaled approximately 4.4 million hectolitres with a per capita consumption of approximately 57 litres.
